...Doug Pickering and Karla-Rae Buga represented our club at Pinawa, and now Doug is away for the rest of the summer, which will include the World Triathlon Championships at Lausanne in Switzerland.
The Half-Ironman in Morden is next on our calendar and Perry Bergson, John Blyth and Laird Lidster will all be doing that, while Paul Francis is one of the volunteers. John, Laird and Paul all have Ironman competitions lined up for the later part of the summer too. And of course there are a few other triathlons in the province later in the summer.
Our own Kids of Steel and Tri-a-Tri (and duathlon equivalents) are still about a month away, and I imagine many of our members and friends will be around helping with that: Perry has received the shiny medals now!
There seems to be some interest in club cycling jackets, so I shall put out feelers about that, but by all means e-mail me if you would like one! I think the best way is to see if we can get samples of the different sizes, since you usually want them fairly snug but not quite as snug as a cycling jersey, and it would be good to try the next size up or down, depending on the make. I would hope to get something moving before the Fall, but I understand lots of people will be away at various points in the summer, and I am not alone in having quite a lot of training and racin to absorb my energies - so feel free to pitch in with ideas, suggestions etc. We need to find a nice design that may incorporate versions of one or both of our logos - I must say I was very impressed with George Manby's design for the A&L cycle jersey, and wouldn't mind soliciting input from him and/or Cam, not to mention just about anybody! j
